About Pilates
Pilates is an exercise method focusing on strengthening, balancing and elongating the body whilst improving flexibility and posture.
It was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early part of the 20th Centuary and adopted by professional Dancers in America as an effective form of recovery after injury. Its precise approach means it gives long term results and is especially recommended by medical specialists such as Physiotherapists and Osteopaths for those suffering from back pain.
Pilates has proven itself for more than 50 years as an effective and safe method of exercise, when taught and applied correctly. It has been the workout of choice for dancers, gymnasts and fitness enthusiasts for decades. In recent years it has worked itself into the mainstream and now attracts everyone from grandmas to executives, olympians to rugby players and actors to everyday people.
'My Method develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong posture, restores physical vitality, , invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit'.
